The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) announced the winners of this year's Patents for Humanity program today.  Patents for Humanity is a USPTO initiative promoting game-changing innovations that address long-standing development challenges. The competition recognizes innovators who use patented technology to address global humanitarian challenges and showcase how patent holders with vision are pioneering innovative ways to provide affordable, scalable, and sustainable solutions for the less fortunate. Applicants compete in the categories of medicine, nutrition, sanitation, household energy, and living standards.  The award recipients receive public recognition at a ceremony hosted by the USPTO and obtain a certificate to accelerate select matters before the patent office. This year, the program recognized six award recipients and two honorable mentions. This year’s virtual award ceremony is scheduled for September 17.
