The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) announced that it is seeking nominations for the annual National Medal of Technology and Innovation (NMTI) award, the country’s highest recognition for achievements related to technological progress.  The medal is awarded to inventors and innovators that have made significant contributions to the development of new and important technology.  The medal recognizes those individuals, teams, or companies that have had an impact on the U.S. through technological innovation, commercialization, and/or the strengthening of the nation's technological workforce.  The deadline for nominations is April 5, 2019.
