On April 26, 2019, organizations and individuals worldwide will observe World Intellectual Property Day. Established in 2000 by the World Intellectual Property Organization, this annual celebration aims to raise awareness of how intellectual property rights impact daily life, and to recognize the contributions made by creators and innovators to the development of societies around the world. This year's World IP Day campaign, “Reach for Gold: IP and Sports,” will highlight the unique relationship between the sports industry and intellectual property, and will explore how innovation, creativity, and intellectual property rights foster the development of sport and its global appeal.
