COJK and six members of the firm are included in the 2018 edition of International Asset Management (IAM)’s guide, IAM Patent 1000 — The World’s Leading Patent Professionals. The guide recommends the firm in Washington state for all three patent categories considered: litigation, prosecution, and transactions. In its introduction of the firm, the guide notes that, “COJK’s clients do not just want to provide brief references for the firm – they proactively brag about their relationship, such is the attentiveness of its service and its quality.” Among the client feedback shared, the firm and its attorneys are recognized for their ability to get things done, as one client comments, “Between its diligence and expertise, the team adds incredible value to our company and has accomplished great feats where others have failed.”

John Denkenberger, co-managing member of the firm and head of the litigation practice group, is named to the list for litigation, patent prosecution, and patent transactions; Rhys Lawson, a member of the firm’s life sciences and mechanical patent practice groups, is recommended for his work in patent prosecution; Jerry Nagae, a member of the firm’s mechanical patent practice group, is recognized for patent prosecution and patent transactions; newcomer to the guide this year Melissa Nowak, a member of the firm’s life sciences patent practice group and trademark practice group, is recommended for her patent prosecution practice; George Renzoni, co-managing member and head of the firm's life sciences practice group, achieves a highly recommended nod for his work in patent prosecution; and Brandon Stallman, a member in the firm’s mechanical patent practice group, is also recommended for patent prosecution.

IAM Patent 1000 identifies leading firms and individuals in the patent prosecution, transactions and litigation fields around the world. The guide was compiled following an extensive research process which included hundreds of interviews with attorneys at law, patent attorneys, and in-house counsel to gather market intelligence on the leading lawyers in the field. Firms and individuals qualify for a listing on the basis of their depth of expertise, market presence, and the level of work on which they are typically engaged.
