COJK is pleased to announce the addition of new attorney John E. Whitaker to the firm. John joins the firm’s electrical engineering and computer science practice group, where he will focus his practice on counseling clients on technology protection and the enforcement of intellectual property rights, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. John’s diverse practice includes representing technology clients in the software, computer, medical device, and telecommunications industries, as well as helping artists and authors to protect their original works. John’s technical experience includes work in machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous vehicles, cryptography and steganography, network communications and security, online advertising, operating systems and productivity software, medical devices, and more.

“We are pleased to have John join the team,” said John Denkenberger, co-managing member of the firm. “His experience in IP law, particularly in the area of computer science, makes John an exciting addition to the firm.”

Prior to becoming an attorney, John was a software engineer working on the national missile defense effort. He has worked at various prominent law firms, including Merchant & Gould P.C. and Jones & Askew, LLP, and currently also serves as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Army Reserve.
