COJK is pleased to welcome new attorney Leron Vandsburger, Ph.D. to the firm. Leron is a registered patent attorney focusing his practice on patent prosecution and counseling in the areas of materials, engineering, and electronics, with specific technology experience in semiconductor processing, AI/machine learning, materials chemistry, optics, petrochemical engineering, videogame systems, AR/user interfaces, energy generation, and telecommunications.

Prior to going to law school, Leron was a postdoctoral research fellow in plasma physics at the Université de Montréal and a postdoctoral research associate in materials science at the University of Washington in Seattle. His research involved developing new nanostructured carbon materials with tailored chemistry for light emission and non-thermal plasma spectroscopy. Leron completed a Ph.D. in chemical engineering at McGill University. His doctoral research explored interactions between carbon nanostructures and plasma-generated species in the presence of electric fields, applicable to semiconductor processing systems and image sensor technology.

Leron currently serves as the clinic coordinator and treasurer for the Washington Lawyers for the Arts, an organization dedicated to supporting the works of artists and arts organizations in Washington state. Leron received his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law, with concentrations in intellectual property and technology policy. He received his Ph.D., his M. Eng., and his B.
