Accounting Supervisor

COJK is seeking qualified candidates to fill a full-time Accounting Supervisor position.  Currently, most accounting positions are working remotely, however this position will be located in the downtown Seattle office through the training and occasionally after training.

Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of five years of general accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services setting.  Candidates must possess strong attention to detail and the ability to articulate clearly and effectively in verbal and written communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all firm accounting functions, including month-end and year-end reporting and closings
  • Work closely with an outside accounting firm in preparation of year-end closings, partner Schedule K-1’s, and firm tax filings
  • Supervise accounting staff, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and payroll
  • Oversee firm billing and collection processes, and manage WIP and A/R
  • Manage general ledger, month-end reporting, and expense budgets
  • Manage monthly reconciliations of all accounting ledgers
  • Contribute to and assist HR with payroll processing, including implementation of staff and attorney compensation and bonus programs
  • Assist HR with the management of the firm’s retirement and 401(k) tax-deferred savings plans
  • Assist HR with management and reconciliation of firm group insurance and benefit plans
  • Document department procedures
  • Supervise, train, and manage personnel on accounting systems and procedures

Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of general accounting experience, preferably in a professional services partnership or similar organization
  • Knowledge of ProLaw preferred (or similar legal management system); advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; and experience with payroll systems (ADP preferred)
  • Ability to comprehend, draft and, disseminate policies and instructions, complex documents, and correspondence
  • Ability to write and communicate concisely and effectively
  • Demonstrate effective team leadership skills, and the ability to prioritize and anticipate work requirements
  • Must be able to work well under periods of pressure and deadlines
  • Must be process-oriented with an ability to utilize technology to add efficiency to processes
