COJK is seeking qualified candidates to fill a full-time Trademark Paralegal position, preferably a local candidate who can work a hybrid schedule; however, remote candidates can apply.
This role supports COJK’s trademark practice by managing domestic and international trademark prosecution, maintaining accurate dockets, coordinating with attorneys and foreign associates, and communicating directly with clients. The ideal candidate is an experienced trademark paralegal who can manage a high-volume portfolio, work independently, be responsive and provide high-quality client service.
Qualified Trademark Paralegal candidates will possess five or more years of experience as a Trademark Paralegal. Experience in a law firm setting is preferred, with the ability to support multiple attorneys in all phases of domestic and foreign trademark filing and prosecution, and to manage a full docket in a hybrid or virtual work environment. Candidates must demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to articulate clearly and effectively in verbal and written communications. A successful candidate will have the desire to be part of a team, along with the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of global trademark portfolios for a diverse and expansive clientele
- Docket review and management
- Produce portfolio reports from the database
- Prepare, file, and manage global trademark applications, both nationally and via the Madrid Protocol
- Handle change of ownership requirements
- Conduct trademark research, searching, and reporting using databases and online search engines, including CorSearch
- Correspond directly with clients, attorneys, and foreign associates
- Coordinate with other departments and staff as needed
- Provide support to attorneys on foreign infringement, opposition, cancellation, and invalidation actions, including research, evidence collection, and communications with foreign associates and clients
- Participate in special projects as needs arise for promoting high quality, effective service for clients
Requirements
- 5 + years of experience as a Trademark Paralegal, experience in a law firm setting is preferred
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Professional demeanor, strong attention to detail, and good interpersonal skills
- Superior organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize workload
- Ability to adapt to different attorney working styles and needs
- Ability to adapt to different processes
- Self-motivated starter willing to seek additional assignments as schedule allows
