Pete Becker and Makiko Coffland To Discuss U.S. and Japanese Trademark Protection
COJK attorneys Pete Becker and Makiko Coffland will participate in the upcoming United States Patent and Trademark (USPTO) program, “The importance of trademark protection: U.S. and Japanese perspectives,” taking place on June 18, 2026. Makiko Coffland will present the session, “Key differences in trademark practices between U.S. and Japan.” Pete Becker will join the panel discussion, “The future of trademarks: AI, NIL, valuation, and more.” The half-day program, which the USPTO is cohosting with Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), will take place at the USPTO Western Regional Outreach Office in San Jose, CA, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. PT and is available for both in-person and virtual attendance.
