COJK maintains a strong commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment that supports the recruitment, retention, and advancement of people of all backgrounds at all levels of the firm. This commitment begins with the leadership of the firm, who make diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) a regularly discussed topic at each executive-level meeting. As part of our commitment, we continually review our processes and procedures to ensure that we adhere to our goal to promote and maintain DEI at every level, seeking to embed the principles of DEI into all aspects of the firm.
We believe that our employees are the firm's most valuable asset, and we strive to provide a work environment where all employees feel included, valued, and recognized for their contribution to the success of each other, our clients, and the firm. We offer DEI roundtables to attorneys and staff interested in learning about DEI and being a part of the discussions as we build inclusivity. We also sponsor firm-wide learning experiences through guest speakers to further build connectivity at the firm.
In our community, we seek to support organizations that align with our DEI goals to provide legal aid, support, and assistance to people in need, and to support organizations that foster the mentorship and success of attorneys in underrepresented groups, including organizations such as the King County Law Firm Campaign for Equal Justice, the Washington State Bar Association's Powerful Communities Project, Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association (MAMA) Seattle, and the QLaw Foundation of Washington.
