Fran Jagla is the chair of the firm's trademark practice group, a member of the firm's executive committee, and the executive member of the firm's DEI Council. Fran advises clients across a wide range of industries, from Fortune 100 companies to startups, in all areas of trademark law. Fran focuses her practice in assisting clients with both U.S. and foreign trademark matters, including name development, search, clearance, filing, registration, maintenance, licensing, and due diligence, as well as a strong focus on regulatory issues, and with the enforcement of trademarks and copyrights.
Fran provides vital counsel to clients navigating the complexities of brand approval and protection for companies in the pharmaceutical and other highly regulated industries, including medical devices, wine and spirits, cannabis and beyond. She also advises clients in trademark-related acquisitions, divestitures, licensing, and Internet domain name matters.
Fran has previously served as in-house counsel for some of the nation’s leading corporations. Her experience gained from working on both sides of the client-attorney relationship makes her uniquely qualified to develop the practical, business-centric solutions to address her clients’ needs.
Fran is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), and the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO), where she currently serves as a member on the organization’s International Trademark Law & Practice Committee. She is recognized by World Trademark Review in their guide WTR 1000 – The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals as “excellent in the deal space” and as having “successfully overseen many IP-rich acquisition, spin-off and divestiture transactions.” She is also named to Managing Intellectual Property's IP Stars and is included in the list of Washington Super Lawyers and in the list of The Best Lawyers in America. Fran is a thought leader in trademark law, regularly presenting or writing on related legal and industry topics.
